5 Things You Need to Know About Seaport Summer

The Seaport District is hosting a summertime celebration known as Seaport Summer, comprised of culinary and cultural experiences to bring visitors to the area as it continues to redevelop. From guest chef dinners to an outdoor bar right on the cobblestone street, here’s what you need to know before you go:

Top chefs will create custom menus for two-week engagements

At Seaport Food Lab, chefs from across the U.S. will craft family-style menus, pairing them with drinks made specifically to complement the fare (including custom beers made in collaboration with Sixpoint Brewery). The dinner series kicks off on June 19 with Paul Kahan, Erling Wu-Bower and Cosmo Goss, who are previewing plates from their forthcoming Chicago eatery, Pacific Standard Time. Other confirmed chefs include Hugh Acheson (Five & Ten, The National), Alon Shaya (DomenicaShaya), Jessica Koslow (Sqirl) and Dale Talde (Talde). Information on dates and reservations can be found here.

A gastropub pours the perfect brews using a flux capacitor

A rotating selection of 20 craft beers on draft and 20 unique burgers made with Pat LaFreida meat are on the menu at Clinton Hall’s seasonal Seaport outpost. Look for burger creations like the fondue burger, featuring a bun filled with molten cheese and french fries and “The Seaport Special” (crispy shrimp, Old Bay mayonnaise, cheddar buttermilk biscuit), which is unique to this location. The on-site flux capacitor provides greater control in managing beer carbonation levels and therefore allows beers to be served as the brewer intended. Over-the-top “WTF waffles” and donuts with injectable sauces end the meal.

There’s a stunning 78-foot outdoor bar draped in lush greenery

Situated on an old cobblestone street in the Seaport District is The Garden Bar, offering sips and sounds from local DJs. There’s beer, rosé and cocktails, plus an exclusive lounge for Chase cardmembers.

A curated collection of food trucks offers elevated, yet casual, dining options

Front Row Food Market includes Shake by Black Tap, serving up the burger chain’s famous (and seriously indulgent) milkshakes; Ambrose Lobster and Bites, with offerings like lobster grilled cheese; and Clinton Hall Seaport Self Pour, which has a selection of 20 beers.

It’s only around for a limited time

Seaport Summer ends on October 22, but there’s plenty to look forward to as revitalization plans for the area continue to move forward, including a 50,000-square-foot food market by Jean-Georges Vongerichten and new restaurants by Vongerichten and David Chang’s Momofuku Group.
