We know that clutter causes anxiety, and neither have a place in an ideal getaway. Milan design studio Mandalaki has taken this realization to the extreme with an über-sleek miniature house concept: the monocabin.

The first monocabin is located in picturesque Rhodes, Greece, which is home to Mandalaki’s co-founder and designer George Kolliopoulos. “The dream was to build a livable and modular design object we could place anywhere in the world sharing our design philosophy,” said Kolliopoulos. “The story had to begin in Rhodes, my home island.”

Every aspect of monocabin was meticulously designed, with the goal of creating the ideal summer retreat. The company’s language in describing their “space nourished by the passage of guests” with a common goal of “a return to oneself” is a bit vague and idealistic, but we get the picture—a minimalist tiny home with everything it needs and nothing more, offering a distraction-free opportunity to reconnect with oneself and nature.

Now for the details. The 280-square-foot house is a geometric, all-white structure set in nature. Large windows bring the outside in, flooding the space with natural light with the added bonus of getting to wake up to a blue sky, thanks to a skylight. All the furniture (also designed by Mandalaki) is custom-made to perfectly suit the space in form and function, from a slim shelf made of local marble to an aluminum cutlery holder that costs a casual €199 ($230).

The layout is simple: a bedroom, a bathroom, a combined living room, and kitchen leads out to a spacious terrace, a space for working out, and private gardens surrounding the property. Themes of functionality and simplicity extend to the outdoor spaces, with strategically placed plants and art, a patio for relaxing or enjoying a meal, lounge chairs, and a hammock.

Rates for spring stays at monocabin are €109 ($125) per night, and summer and fall stays are €119 ($135) per night. The price includes a welcome food kit, an official monocabin catalogue, island tips and a map, cleaning services, private parking, and city tax. Check out available dates here.
